TECHNICAL

This year, the project has performed a large amount of prototype improvement. After our evaluation trip in summer 2016, we gained a vast amount of information to improve the insulation methods and stove efficiency. We are currently testing to create an briquette fire starter that will be more effective than using plastic to start the communities cookstove fires.

Communications is responsible for a range of projects including the coordination of stove manufacturers and keeping a relationship with community contacts. This year, the communications team developed a PSA against burning plastic that included engraved warnings on the stoves themselves and presentations for the community on the trip this past winter. Weekly newsletters and social media updates are also completed by this team.
